Count Down ... "Share Your Heart' Contest!

W
e're very excited about our "Share Your Heart" contest and so pleased with the response so far! The time is growing nigh ... we have a couple of days remaining before the deadline so get your "pen" writing and send us your story.

(By the way Lindsey, we're still waiting on your story about your love affair with Edy's Slow-Churned Ice Cream. Since you're our daughter you do know you'll be disqualified due to a conflict of interest ... sorry ... still want to read your story!)

So here's the "lowdown" if you missed the previous post:

Our logo here at Autumn Song is the heART of photography. But it’s not just a logo to us. Connecting in a heartfelt way through our love of photography is at the core essence of who we are! So, to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, we would like to include you in a fun contest and give you an opportunity to share your heart and your story with us.

Share your heART. Submit your story of 500 words or less to Autumn Song. Your story can be about anything dear to your heart … a loved one, a pet, a cause, your faith ... humorous or serious. We will select three finalists and post their stories on our blog. Autumn Song readers will vote for the winner by posting comments.
All Entries Must Be Submitted by February 1st, 2010.

***NOTE: by request we are giving an extension on the deadline. The new deadline is February 6th.***

The winner will be announced on February 14th and will receive his or her choice of a B&W portrait session (which includes an 11x14 portrait!), or a matted and signed B&W fine art photograph by Rod. The fine art photograph is printed with archival inks on archival art paper.

We've had several inquiries about the fine art photograph and some requests to post an image. Well, here it is! Isn't it beautiful? One of my personal favorites of Rod's!

01.25.10Weddings

NC Wedding Photography ~ Lauren & Augie

I
hardly know where to begin ... why don't I start by sharing with you my connection with Lauren and Augie. Lindsey is my daughter and she is married to Neil. Neil is the brother of Lauren who is the bride of Augie. Bill is Lauren's Dad ... my friend, and a very good photographer as well!
Karen and I are so blessed to have Neil as our son-in-law ... he's everything we prayed for when asking God to find the right man for Lindsey. Bill and I have spent many hours talking about our children. Bill has been praying for the right man to come in to Lauren's life for quite some time. You see, as a dad, all we ask in a man is that he love our daughter as much as we do... that's not asking too much, is it?

Lindsey was the matchmaker in Lauren's and Augie's relationship. She mentioned to me months before speaking to them about what a great guy Augie was and how she thought he and Lauren would make a wonderful couple. If you know Lindsey at all you know she is very analytical and not prone to making hasty decisions. After much deliberation she made the introduction and as fate would have it, Lauren and Augie fell in love.

Lauren is a very beautiful young lady, with a smile that can light up a room. She has such a sweet spirit, and is probably the calmest bride I've ever seen. Maybe shooting a gazillion weddings with her dad paid off!

Augie is very outgoing with a genuine love for people ... he has this charming, boyish quality that draws you to him. As far as being calm let me say this... Augie started out on fire three hours before the wedding and was still going strong as they made their grand exit!

I'm so happy for Lauren and Augie, happy they found each other ... I'm happy for Bill and Dyanne too, happy that God answered their prayers and gave someone that loves Lauren as much as daddy does!

01.16.10Children/Families

NC Portrait Photography ~ The Foster's

I
recently had the pleasure of photographing the Foster family ... a sweet family in more ways than one ... Leigh is the one of the owners of The Candy Factory!
The store is a nostalgic candy store in downtown Lexington with so much to choose from as far as delicious and yummy sweets. My favorites are their homemade chocolates!
I can't imagine many things that could be more fun than watching kids, from one to one hundred, come into your store wanting one of everything! If you haven't visited the candy store please make plans to do so soon ... you'll be glad you did.

Thanks Leigh for having me photograph your family. We'll surely see you around at The Candy Factory.

01.12.10Engagements

Salisbury Engagement Session - Danielle & Graham

I
turned slowly into a parking lot in downtown Salisbury ... arriving a bit early, I sat in the car with the engine still running, seat warmers on, and the heat cranked up to full intensity. I'm fairly cold-natured so the initial shock of getting out of a warm car or house is always daunting. Just as I was melting into the seat, Danielle and Graham pulled up beside of me. Out of the car stepped this beautiful couple with smiles so warm I completely forgot about the cold. They were so much fun to be around and the chemistry between the two was absolutely amazing. Graham knew a lot about Salisbury and took us to some very interesting locations that I hadn't seen before. With the exception of a few skateboarders, we had the streets to ourselves. After a couple of hours of shooting the sun was beginning to set, leaving me with a very special engagement session and the wonderful anticipation of their soon-to-come wedding day!
