11.08.09Personal "Layla"

H aving a love for photography has taken me places I will always remember. I have stood on the foggy cliffs of northern California and photographed the cala lilies in bloom. I've stood in awe at the majesty of the giant redwood trees. I've photographed landscapes, seascapes, fire escapes, and great escapes all across this beautiful country of ours. Of all the wonderful people and places that I've framed within my camera there is nothing that compares to capturing an image that reveals a bit of the personality of our babies, Bradyn and Layla! Last week, Lindsey asked if we could take Layla down to the old house and do a "serious" session with her. I loaded up a couple of film cameras and a digital camera and away we went. Honestly, I can't tell you what it is about Layla that makes my heart do flips. Maybe it's the combination of that beautiful red hair that falls down around her face like dozens of miniature Slinkys, that huge smile, and big ole' puppy dog eyes. I believe all those things contribute greatly but, the thing that really gets me the most is when she looks right at me and says ... "I wuvs you poppie."

M aternity sessions are so much fun, especially when "mom" gives me the green light to shoot the session as I like. We photographed Lindsay and Tim's wedding several years ago and have enjoyed photographing special occasions for them since. Lindsay is a beautiful pregnant lady. Her cute round belly drops a little low and is perfect for photography! We spent a couple of hours on her session and was able to include a few photos of her adorable son Camdon. He is so active that it takes all I have to catch him in the moment, but when I do, the shots are just too precious. Thanks so much Lindsay and Tim, for your friendship and confidence in Autumn Song Photography. We look to the past with wonderful memories and to the future with hopes and dreams of seeing your family grow and prosper!

11.01.09Children/Families NC Family Photography - The Giles Family

I t seems like only yesterday when Karen and I first met Anna; I believe she was in the third grade. Anna and our daughter Lindsey became friends in grade school. Anna had the sweetest heart-shaped face with big brown eyes that looked like gigantic almonds. As time passed, she grew into a beautiful young lady and met the love of her life, Jarred Giles. They married after college and now are proud parents of two precious young girls. Lindsey and Anna are still friends, in fact I believe they are closer friends now than ever. They have a lot in common, the biggest is that they are stay at home super moms! I am happy that Lindsey has a network of friends like Anna to share all of her mommy stories. Thanks Anna and Jarred for the opportunity to photograph your lovely family for a "Fall at The Farm" session. Here they are.... Jarred, Anna, Rachel, and Carly!!!
