05.18.09WeddingsGreensboro Wedding Photography - Brandon and Ashley |
F rom the moment I met Ashley and Brandon I knew there was something special about their relationship. Maybe it was the way they spoke to each other or just little acts of kindness they shared as we worked through their engagement session. I like to study people from a distance to find out what makes them tick. It didn't take long before I knew that Brandon and Ashley are solid in their faith and that their faith is the foundation of their relationship.
They have parents who have lead the way for them with great example. Brandon and Ashley's wedding was filled with little moments that inspired me and and gave me the desire to be a better husband and father. The wedding took place at Castle McCulloch. They prayed for the weather to cooperate and God answered their prayers. Thank you Ashley and Brandon and thanks also to your respective families for inspiring me and confirming, once again, why I love doing what I do. |

05.16.09NewsNature Photography |
O n a recent post we shared with you that May is National Photography Month and that we have a solo exhibit at the Thomasville Public Library through May, exhibiting both my portrait and nature work. Last Tuesday evening we had the opportunity to share a slideshow and answer questions with guests. We really appreciate those who came out as well as the e-mails and comments from people who have visited the exhibit. The response was very good to the slideshow so we decided to share it with you.
First I would like to note that the music for the slideshow is called "Autumn Song" and was written by Ray Fredette, a good friend of ours. Thank you Ray for sharing your talent with us. We appreciate your friendship and love your heart for God; your family will always remain very special to us. My nature photography is the root of my photography experience. I don't like to refer to it as my "career" because photography is my love and my passion, I never view it as work. Many of you know that I began by photographing my children and the flowers and bugs in our yard. My experience as a photographer has blossomed into a very rewarding lifelong journey. Karen and I are so thankful for the many blessings along the way. |

05.14.09SeniorsWinston-Salem Portrait Photography - Caroline |
C aroline is our Senior model for the class of 2010. I met with her and her mother yesterday to do her senior session in Winston-Salem. We previously posted a few photos of her that we shot in early spring for a promotional piece. Caroline is a lot of fun to photograph...... like so many seniors there are different aspects to her personality. She is very relaxed in front of the camera and has no problem conveying her different moods. Here are a few photos from yesterday's session. Thanks Caroline for all your hard work. I had a great time, hope you did as well! |

05.12.09PersonalLet's Have a Cookout |
T he thing I love about our family is.... we are always ready to get together and have a cookout! This past Sunday we all met at my brother in-law's house to celebrate his birthday and of course to celebrate Mother's Day. The weather was perfect, the kids fished and swam. I love being with my family and am so glad that we live within a 30 mile radius of each other.
To all mothers.... I hope you had a well deserved day of rest and thank you for all the love, sacrifices, and hard work you do for us. |
Bradyn got a new haircut. I don't know...... it makes him look a little older. |

05.09.09NewsPhotography Workshops, exhibits, May Promo & Stuff |
We have a lot of stuff in the news with Autumn Song to share with you so let's get on with it!
The interest in our "Intro To Digital Photography" has been great! Our next workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th. As I have said before, whether you have been shooting with a camera for years or just picked up your first DSLR camera, the basics are always good to review. In the workshop you will learn about: camera controls exposure available light composition We keep the number of participants for the workshops at a small number to ensure everyone will have a chance to ask questions and so I can spend some one-on-one time with each person. Our workshops are laid back, comfortable and very informative. Details for the workshop are: "Intro to Digital Photography" Date: Tuesday, June 9th Time: 6:00-9:00 Instructor: Rod Slate Cost: $50 Each participant will receive a packet of information with quick notes from the workshop. With so much information covered in just three hours the quick notes will be a great resource! Call or e-mail to pre-register for the workshop at 336-475-6457 or kslate@autumnsongphotography.com We are working on scheduling an intermediate workshop that will take place once a week for four weeks. Let us know if you are interested in an intermediate workshop. We currently have a photography exhibit at the Thomasville Public Library on Randolph St in Thomasville. May is National Photography Month and we are honored to have some of my nature and portrait work on display. We will conduct a presentation on Tuesday evening, May 12 from 6-8 with a slide show, question and answer time and Lindsey Broere, with Black Daffodil Films, will be there too. We are well under way with scheduling Senior Portrait Sessions for June, July and August which are always so much fun! Teenagers are so very interesting and we enjoy getting to know them.
Now, that's about it for all the current "in the news" happenings with Autumn Song. How about a little something on the personal side. Neil and Lindsey were going out with friends, sort of like a date. They asked if we would mind keeping Layla overnight.....what do you think our response was..... we were delighted to have Layla spend her first "sleepover" with us! I know Neil and LIndsey were excited to go out and not have to hurry home. They were a little nervous about leaving Layla and how she would do, we were a little nervous too. It just breaks my heart for a child to cry for their mommy; that was their concern as well as ours. Well, Layla did great! We had so much fun; we played, sang songs, ate strawberry ice cream (Layla asked, and of course, I ran to the store to get her ice cream)! She got everything she wanted, stayed up a little late and got to play in some of Karen's old costume jewelry. After her bath in our BIG garden tub Layla really enjoyed adorning herself with as much jewelry as possible. She just had to have one of Karen's wraps too. Check this out! |
