Bru-In-Law's Birthday

I
am in awe of my brother-in-law. Mike is the most positive person I know.... has never met a stranger and he has this uncanny ability to bring out the very best in others. I believe that when God wanted THE model of a girl's softball coach, he reached down grabbed a handful of Davidson county red dirt, formed it into a ball and made coach Lambros.... that's my brother-in-law, Mike. He is a teacher and a successful softball coach at North Davidson High School. He has had a tremendous impact on everyone around him and especially his students. I know of young men and women who have written letters to him from Iraq, in the middle of war thanking him for the discipline that he instilled in them.... a discipline that was enabling them to get through tough times. I've walked through local grocery stores beside him, stopping every few steps to watch him speak to students past and present. I've seen the way their faces light up as he engages them in questions about their life. He's had his share of battles, so to speak, with kids, parents, administration and with red dirt .... but the toughest battles he's fought have been with himself and the decisions he's made. You see I am a photographer...if I make a bad photo I can erase it and make a new one, I have a second chance......when you make decisions concerning the life of a young person, most often, you only have one chance.

I am so proud Mike is my brother-in-law but I much prouder that he's my friend. Happy birthday bru-in-law ....I love you!

We celebrated his birthday in true bru-in-law fashion starting with good ole' chicken wings from Ted's.

Photography - An Art of Observation

O
ne of my favorite quotes pertaining to photography is by the great Elliot Erwitt and it goes like this..... "To me photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." I like this quote for two reasons... 1. It challenges me to stay true to who I am and to constantly and consistently try to document things according to my vision and not the vision of others. 2. It also challenges me to slow down and look for all the extraordinary things in ordinary places.

What about you, do you have a favorite quote? I would love to hear it!

Charlotte Wedding Photography - Matt & Lauren

I
glanced over to the side of the road and saw a sign that read .... temperature 96 degrees..... somewhat appropriate for the wedding of a couple that makes and sells "hot" sauce. I'm not talking hot sauce like Texas Pete, I am talking about "grown up" hot sauce....the kind that will light you up from your toes to the top of your head. Not only is it hot but it has a great flavor as well. Here is a link that will hook you up.....if you like hot stuff, try this!

Matt and Lauren are a wonderful couple. They compliment each other in their business and in their relationship as well .... easy going and laid back....the kind of folks wedding photographers dream about. Their beautiful wedding took place in downtown Charlotte at the Morrison Chapel of Covenant Presbyterian Church with the reception at Morehead Inn. It was a fantastic day spent with a beautiful and gracious couple. Thank you Lauren and Matt for allowing us to be a part of your most special day. Have fun in Aruba!!!

Greensboro Children's Photography-Sam, Shelby, & Somerly

I
haven't seen many kids as happy to have their photographs made as Sam, Shelby, and Somerly. Spending the afternoon with them was an absolute joy. Sam liked to to clown around and Shelby liked to call the shots and Somerly .... she just sat beautifully in her own little world fascinated with flower petals and blades of grass. Thank you Sharon for sharing your precious children with me. I hope you guys have a great summer!!

NC Engagement Photography - Ryan and Tracye

A
fter meeting Ryan and Tracye for the first time I was hoping they would choose me to photograph their wedding. They did and I am so happy .... after all, we do have some pretty important things in common ... like a love for peanut butter and beach music. They make a wonderful couple...... so in tune with each other....alike in many ways and different in others. Since they are getting married at Childress Vineyards we decided to start their engagement session there. Tracye also mentioned there are a lot of old rustic houses in her hometown and said it would be nice to include some rustics with their session and we did. After almost three hours of photography, they looked as fresh as the moment we started. Congratulations to the two of you and thanks for a great afternoon. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Looking forward to your wedding in October!
