NC Children's Photography {the Negotiator}

I
t's always one of the biggest honors to be asked to photograph someone's most precious earthly treasure--their children. And, its always really incredible when I get to photograph their children more than once. I met Spencer a few years ago when I photographed him as a newborn. His days on this earth were few and his eyes held so much promise. Little did I know that he'd turn in to quite the negotiator. After only a few minutes with him, I found out that he would do almost anything I'd ask--as long as his investment came with a return. What is this return, you might ask. Anything Lightening McQueen. I guess we all know what he'll be for Halloween this year! And sweet little Max took it all in. I wonder if he'll grow to be the same kind of negotiator as his big brother....

Thank you Emily & James for sharing your boys with me for the afternoon.

My Girls

A
few days ago, Lindsey and Neil brought Layla and Adalei over for an afternoon. Layla (in normal Layla fashion) showed up dressed to the nines. On that day, she was a cowgirl. Naturally, she had boots (albeit snow boots), jeans, and her mother's hat. She walked through the front door, made her way to me and said she was ready to have her photograph taken. I later found out that she was charging me to take her photo. She is saving up for a stuffed animal and has been searching high and low for work. It didn't take her long to find out that I was willing to make up ALL the difference she lacked for just an afternoon of photos. After all (and according to both Layla and Bradyn), Papa never says "no" and he gives great bribes--which left me wondering who was bribing who? ANYWAY....

As I sat down and began to filter through our photos, I couldn't help but smile. I could see the photos where she knew she was working for her little stuffed animal kitty and the ones where she had forgotten and turned into a 4.5 year old who was tired of posing. Either way--she is 100% adorable little red head who is always dressed for the occasion. I love her.

And as for Adalei--she could care less. She avoids the camera at all costs. I squeezed these out of her...but you can tell, she quickly found her "Teddy" and hid behind him for the rest of the afternoon.

NC Wedding Photography-Sarah and Michael

Y
ou may recognize Sarah and Michael from the post we did HERE several months ago. Sarah has been a huge inspiration behind the renovations at WinMock. Naturally, it only made sense for her to marry at WinMock. When we showed up on Saturday, the place was a buzz with activity. The Sterling crew was hard at work turning the WinMock barn into every little girl's dream wedding.

I heard there was a lot of curiosity behind Sarah's dress. Sarah has a quiet femininity about her that intrigued me. She was a soccer player in high school and was known for her refusal to wear dresses AND make up but Sarah is also a lady in every sense of the word. Sarah is gracious, graceful and self assured. I was really excited to see the dress she chose. Needless to say--I was blown away. I think we all were.

So I won't waste anymore time with words....I'll let you look for yourself....

NC Family Photography: The Kohns

I
was honored to meet Aaron and Brittany years ago when I photographed their wedding. They are such an amazing couple and now parents to sweet little adorable Gavin. We worked with Brooke over at Nouvelle Soiree for their session. She did such an amazing job setting a scene that fit the Kohns family to a tee. And I have to say...sweet little adorable Gavin knows how to rock a bow tie. I think you'll agree...

NC Engagement Photography ~ Addison + Stephen

W
e had the privilege of getting to know Addison and Stephen a few weeks ago. There is such a sweetness about those two. It was apparent from our first introduction that Stephen was/is a gentleman. I liked the way he listened to Addison while she talked about their wedding day...I liked the way he kept his hand on the small of her back...I liked the way he let her fix his collar. And Addison is quite the lady--she has the most contagious and genuine smile and gentle voice.

So, when we decided to do their engagement session at the fair--I knew it would be dripping with sweetness. I could go on and on about how much fun we had...but I'll just let the photos speak for themselves.

Enjoy...
