Tim and Amber

I
thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon with Tim and Amber. Even though the temperature was soaring into the mid 90's, we were still able to keep our cool and come away with some great shots. See you guys in a couple of weeks!

Sam

H
ave you heard the quote " Love is spelled T-I-M-E?" With all my heart I believe it's true.... especially when our children are involved. Little ones need to know that they are special and worthy of the best we have to offer. Not necessarily a vacation or spending lots of money but doing simple things like a walk in the woods or reading a book or just sitting on the floor playing with blocks. I know that Sam gets the proper attention, it shows in the smile on his face!

I Took His Hand and Followed

My dishes went unwashed today,
I didn't make the bed,
I took his hand and followed
Where his eager footsteps led.

Oh yes, we went adventuring,
My little son and I,
Exploring all the great outdoors
Beneath the summer sky.

We waded in a crystal stream,
We wandered through a wood;
My kitchen wasn't swept today
But life was gay and good.

We found a cool, sun-dappled glade
And now my small son knows
How Mother Bunny hides her nest,
Where jack-in-the-pulpit grows.

We watched a robin feed her young,
We climbed a sunlit hill,
Saw cloud-sheep scamper through the sky,
We plucked a daffodil.

That my house was neglected,
That I didn't brush the stairs,
In twenty years, no one on earth
Will know, or even care.

But that I've helped my little boy
To noble manhood grow,
In twenty years, the whole wide world
May look and see and know.

Family Vacation

E
very year Karen and I look forward and anticipate our family vacation. This year was no exception ... we were geared up for it at least two months or more before the time finally rolled around!
There were 15 of us down this week staying in the beautiful South Myrtle Beach area close to the Point in Garden City. That area is so family oriented, even in the prime season.
We had a great time on the beach, in the pool, at the pier, back at the house chilling out, eating way too much ice cream, playing games ... whatever was happening was good. The runners in our group managed to put their mileage in before the others were up and about in the mornings.

Why do vacations seem to pass so much faster than any other time? It seemed as if we had just gotten there and it was time to head back home. Maybe next year we should make it two weeks ... now that's a thought!

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.

Good times!

Nick, the grill master at any family/friend get together!

Our brother-in-law preparing his famous frogmore stew and, as always was scrumptuous!

eating it traditionally on newspaper ... it doesn't get much better!

Sweet Adalei ... and this is the smiling face we woke up to every morning!

Bradyn, with his new Mohawk, enjoyed going to the arcade to play games ... you see all kinds there too!

a trip to Wilmington to see the battleship

nothing like a good splash in the pool ...

you can tell Layla enjoyed her time in the pool!

That smile just melts my heart ... Adalei has to be the happiest baby in the world!

always time for the carousel

and the whale ride at Margaritaville ...

now isn't Bradyn a brave one!

nothing like a walk on the beach ...

or some time around the pier ...

quietness ...

and a little serenity on the beach ...

NC Children's Photography ~ Luke

W
hen the kids were young I sang to them often. Even to this day they still remember the words to most of those little tunes. One of our favorites went like this.... "I am a promise, I am a possibility. I am a promise with a capitol "P". I am a great big bundle of potentiality." Every time I photograph a little child like Luke, the words to that song resound through my heart and I wonder... what possibilities does the world hold for this little one!

NC Children's Photography ~ Macey and Drew

I
've said it before and it's worth saying again ... one of the most beautiful rewards of my work is building relationships. We met Tom and Kelly a few years ago when we photographed Kelly's sister's wedding. Since then we've had the pleasure of photographing their gorgeous children, Macey and Drew.
Kelly has been so nice to promote us to all of her friends. Because we appreciate what she has done, we wanted to do something for Kelly as a "thank you". Karen thought a family portrait session would be appropriate and I agreed. We decided to do the session at the home of Kelly's parents. They have a beautiful place nestled back at the edge of the woods with a tree swing and a rustic house Kelly's dad works on in his spare time. The house started as a little playhouse for the kids but has turned into an amazing man cave ... of which most men only dream of having!
I arrived a little early to look for the best light. We decided to wait until fall when the leaves change to do the family portrait but wanted to go ahead and take advantage of the incredible light with photos of the kids.
