Greensboro Family Photography ~ The Ludtke's

A
couple of years ago, I was photographing a wedding at Revolution Mill Studio's in Greensboro, NC. I heard this beautiful sound dancing through the air. It was the sound of a harp and it was being played as beautifully as I'd ever heard. I introduced myself to this lovely young harpist and told her how much I enjoyed listening to her play. A few months ago I got a phone call from her asking if I would photograph her newborn baby son ... Grantham. I just completed a second session and I'd like to share a few of my favorites. Oh by the way... if you are looking for a harpist check here.

Oslo Press

J
en and Glenwood met in college--Jen was studying music and Glenwood had aspirations of becoming a high end furniture designer (he has a Master's Degree in Industrial Design from NC State). But while planning their wedding, the two of them discovered that the uniqueness they were searching for in wedding invitations was no where to be found. As they begin to create their own invitations, a passion was discovered. Not long after their vows were spoken, Oslo Press was born...some might call it their first real adventure as husband and wife...their first "baby".

Jen and Glenwood have provided the most amazing letterpress and engraved wood wedding invitations and fine stationary to couples around the world--but they are located in the heart of North Carolina--not too far from where Glenwood graduated.

SO--dad and I decided to go and take a look at what they do...we were astounded. They are intense. They are passionate. They are amazingly creative. One of the things that struck me most about what they do is that they really invest themselves in each design--each invitation, ensuring the colors are perfect (even if it means running the invitation multiple times). I don't know, I suppose being the old soul that I am, I found the whole process sort of romantic.

Check them out...I'm almost certain you'll be equally as romanced and captivated.

Time With Karen

K
aren and I love to take long walks together, especially on trails through the woods. Sunday afternoon was absolutely gorgeous so we decided it would be a great time to get out and have a little fun. I asked her if it would be okay if I brought along a few cameras and some film to take some photos of her in her new sweater and hat that I love seeing her wear. I have to say this... I thought Karen was the prettiest girl I'd ever seen when I first met her... but she's more beautiful today than she's ever been!

I know a girl

S
he's four tomorrow! Its so hard to believe that four years ago I was DYING to meet her and starting to feel the contractions that would bring her into this world. Its even harder for me to imagine my life without her--without her contagious smile...her giggles...her sweet little hands holding mine...the trails of mess that she leaves behind. Its hard to imagine my windows without little finger prints all over them and a refrigerator without her newest masterpiece placed neatly on the door.

I still look at her and can't believe that God trusted me with such a sweet spirited little girl--one with a huge heart and an even bigger smile. She has made me forever vulnerable and words can't begin to describe how blessed that little redhead makes me feel. Its my prayer that some day...she'll be proud and feel blessed that I'm her mommy--that she'll be called to Jesus and learn the love that only He can give. I know--big prayers--but go big or go home, right :-)

Happy Birthday sweet Layla An...you are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made--a perfect little you!

My Babies

I
t's been a while since I've posted anything much about the babies so... here's a brief update on how they're growing. Bradyn is six years old. I can already tell he's starting to want some independence. He still reaches for my hand when I take him to class, but when he realizes that he has it... he lets go... and it hurts a little. He loves to take walks in the woods with me, gathering sticks and rocks and playing super heroes. I have a photo of him that really tells a great story. Although he loves the outdoors, he still has a techie side. In the photo, we were taking a rest in the woods, talking about boy things. He asked for my iphone. Within seconds he found his favorite game and was lost in it!

Layla is almost four. Wherever she goes it seems like people are drawn to her like a magnet. She walked up to an elderly lady at the park and said hey, I'm Layla... the reaction on the lady's face was priceless. She has to be one of the most precious little girls I have ever known. She calls me on the phone every day and says in her little southern belle voice... " Paaapa, I was gonna tell you... I haven't had any chocolate today." She told me that milk makes her have strong bones, green beans makes her have muscles, and chocolate makes her happy. She makes me happy!

Adalei is one year old. She's the happiest little girl I've ever known. I love to hold her and whisper things in her ear... things like " this is Papa's girl." She nuzzles her little head close to my lips, smiles, and seems to melt into my arms. Some people say I'm brainwashing her... I say it's just a heads up on something she's bound to find out!

Beckett is almost 4 months old. He is a pleasant, happy baby and I think he's going to be a communicator. When you talk to him, he tries very hard to talk back.
Everyone in my family seems to gravitate to the youngest, I guess people just like holding the baby. I haven't had a lot of time with Beckett but as he gets older I'm sure I will. I can't say he's Papa's boy yet... but he will be. Everyone comes to Papa sooner or later!
