NC Wedding Photography- Mary Katherine and Nick

A
few years ago, I had the privilege of being a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. One of the things the pastor said on the rehearsal night has kind of stuck with me through the years. Sometimes while shooting a wedding, I'm reminded of his words. He told the bridal party that we were not up there, standing behind our friends, just for the day...or just to look pretty. We were up there to take hold of a great responsibility--a responsibility, as friends and peers, to stand behind their marriage--to make certain our advice to them would always encourage them to mirror Christ's relationship with His bride, the Church.

This past Saturday, Mary Katherine and Nick said their vows. We joked that they had an entire village up there with them--as dad and I waded through a sea of blue bridesmaid dresses and black tuxes. I believe there were 20 in the bridal party--not counting flower girls, ushers and honorary bridesmaids. It was probably one of the biggest bridal parties I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. How awesome that Mary Katherine and Nick have the support of so many friends--friends who, by their presence on Saturday, agreed to stand behind their marriage not just at the front of the church...but through good times and tough times! I'd say those two love birds are blessed beyond belief!

Congratulations you two...the best is yet to come.

~Lindsey

NC Wedding Photography-Kirsten and Will

I
Â’ve always said that the wedding market is such a funny animal. A person can never be quite sure what marketing technique works best from year to year--or even month to month. IÂ’ve been surprised a couple of times by what brides have to say about choosing us over other photographers, but nothing tops what I heard from Kirsten.

I met Kirsten several months ago. She has such an amazing energy about her. Her laugh and her smile are contagious. Our first meeting went well. I genuinely liked her and thought that we would be a good fit for documenting her wedding day. She agreed and booked us right away. Weeks later, I overheard her telling Lindsey that she knew we were the right fit as soon as she pulled up our drive and saw Beau, our golden retriever. Seriously. Our dog, a “marketing tool.” I had to laugh a little to myself--and promise Beau an extra walk or two (and maybe even some of those fancy, boutique dog treats).

Kirsten’s wedding day was near perfect. The weather called for rain and storms all day and night, which spelled disaster for an outdoor wedding. BUT just minutes before her ceremony started, the sun broke through the clouds and provided the most beautiful sunlight. Will and Kirsten were so happy to see each other. I honestly think they would have been just fine to say their “I dos” in the pouring rain.

So without further ado....Kirsten and Will. Congratulations you guys! Now...hum...the name of the pet salon in Greensboro? Ah yes--there it is. I need to make an appointment for Beau, I have a meeting with a bride tomorrow and he has to look his best ;)

05.10.11Seniors

Senior Photography - Devan

O
ut on the countryside, in the beautiful little town of Summerfield, I met Devan. Devan is a senior who enjoys horseback riding and hopes to someday become a veterinarian. I spent the afternoon photographing her at her home... and after the session was over, I stopped along the way and once again photographed ( with my Leica ) the old mill on Highway 68.

NC Wedding Photography-Jessica and Brandon

T
hough they may try to deny tiny bits and pieces of it, Jessica and Brandon have one of the most endearing "how we met" stories I've heard in a while.

Some say they met outside of a port-a-potty at Charlotte Motor Speedway, some say they were just set up by a mutual friend, but the story I heard from Jessica on their wedding day tops it all. Jessica seems like such a girl's girl--she loves pink, loves make up and adores her girlfriends. It seems only fitting that she would fall head over heels for a guy's guy. Enter Brandon. Brandon shows up on their first encounter rocking Carharts and a Georgia Bulldogs ball cap. Jessica is smitten. After hanging out briefly, Brandon darts off to go find some friends--but not before leaving Jessica with his treasured ball cap. He told Jessica "while I may not come back for a girl, I'll come back and find you to get my favorite hat back." And, come back he did--but a little too late. Jessica already went into the racetrack--with his favorite hat. He called her. He asked if he could get his hat back AND a date. A match made in NASCAR heaven--if I do say so myself. To this day, they go back to Charlotte each October for the Bank of America 500.

SO it was only fitting that they said their vows at Childress Vineyards. The weather was perfect--and Jessica had the wedding day planned to the smallest detail. Dad and I had a blast capturing all the details and intimate moments that will surely start one of the most amazing chapters to their story.

Congratulations Jessica and Brandon!
