The Golden Years!

A
ugust 30th 1959 Ann and Larry were married in a little country church between Thomasville and Winston Salem. That year the average income was around $5,000. The average house would set you back a whopping $12.000. You could pick your sweetheart up in a brand new car that cost $2,000 with a tank full of gas that cost 25 cents a gallon. Mack the knife by Bobby Darin was the number one song that year and Bonanza was the show most folks tuned into at night. Some people will argue that those were the good ole' days..... they may be right.

I was asked by the family to photograph their anniversary and I am sure glad I was. Ann, Larry, and their entire family are some of the nicest people I have ever met. It was interesting to look at their wedding photos (black and white) and listen to some of the stories told of yesteryear. When I asked Ann and Larry to give each other a "little" kiss for the camera, Ann said "we like BIG kisses.".......... all I could say was awwwww!!!!

NC Photography Workshops and More!

A
re you like most people in our photography workshops? You paid nice money for your digital camera; you flipped through the manual, heaved a big sigh (aperture, F-stop, what?) and told yourself you’d go through it another day. Before you tossed the manual in a drawer (now, which drawer was it?) you did manage to learn that P stood for Programmed Mode (aha! I can do that!) and you’ve been using good ole P ever since. Your pictures are okay. (Of course they are; who couldn’t take good pictures of my adorable kids?). But with just a little knowledge, your pictures could be so much better!

With a little knowledge and a little practice, you’ll be capturing shots you never, ever thought possible. Pair your God-given eye for beauty with just a little technical knowledge, and you’ll be able to convey more about what is in your heart with each picture you take.

At Autumn Song Photography, our inspiration is the beauty of life and the joy of capturing life through photography. We want to share that joy with you!

So, what are your waiting on...... sign up for one of our workshops!

I "Yike" Go Go Go

K
ids never cease to amaze me..... they have this uncanny ability to to cut right to the chase....to say the most profound things in the most simplistic way and with the least amount of words. Case in point ..... Layla's taking gymnastics and she loves it. There are about twenty other girls in her class. Layla loves to jump on the trampoline. Some of the other kids just don't move fast enough for Layla. Her instructor puts her hand in front of Layla and says "wait wait wait" and then when it's safe for her to go she say's "go go go". After one of her classes we were talking to her about what a great job she did. She looked up at me with her big brown eyes and said " Poppy, I not "yike" wait wait wait.......I "yike" go go go." I looked back at her and after a second or two I said "me too baby, me too."

We just completed a session with Ann, a happy little four month bundle of joy. We photographed her mom and dad's wedding several years ago and have been blessed with keeping a relationship with them. We photographed their son Calvin when he was born and then again last year. We were so delighted when "mom" called to schedule a baby session. Ann didn't have much time for us though, she had more important matters at hand like eating and sleeping.... a typical four-month old!

And The Winner Is..........

Thanks for the response to the "You Name It Contest"! There were a lot of good comments and some really close ones. So, the moral of the story is:

Sometimes the people you think are trying to hurt you are the one's trying to help you; sometimes the people you think are trying to help you actually mean harm.
Regardless, when you find yourself in deep "poop" the best think you can do is keep your mouth shut!

Drum roll ............ and the winner is ........

Kathy Lambeth

Congratulations Kathy! We will contact you via e-mail about your super-duper prize.

Thanks for participating in the Third Thursday You Name It contest. Please visit our site often and leave us a comment. Another contest coming up in just a few weeks!

Happy Monday to you all!
