Judah "Bear"

A
fter keeping us on pins and needles for several days, Judah decided to make his entrance last Sunday. Judah makes five for Karen and me and that's hard to believe. Each one so beautiful in their own way, having their own unique little personalities. I can hardly wait to see Judah's personality develop.

Judah's birth was special to me in many ways. Lindsey wanted me to be in the room with her and Neil during the entire birth. What a special gift. When the whole experience was over, my knees felt like I had just crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon. I was so proud of Lindsey and Neil, the hard work she did and the way Neil held her and looked at her. As long as I live I will never forget the time spent with them on the afternoon of Judah's birth. Lindsey was the shear epitomy of strength, grace and beauty and Judah's birth was another confirmation of the miracle of life.

I'm already thinking of ways I can spoil this one rotten too, just like I have the others. :)

Beaufort NC

I
believe I'm in need of a trip to the beach. Two posts right in a row of a couple of coastal towns have got me yearning for a little salty air. I love Beaufort, it's a neat little town where you can walk along the piers and look at all the gigantic yachts. I like to pretend I own one, and have just sailed in from the Caribbean. They really do that you know. It's always fun to get someone to take you across the water to Shackleford Banks. Many times you can be the only one on the island searching for the wild horses and combing the shore for seashells.

Charleston

K
aren and I love Charleston. It's a great place to go for a little getaway. The food is outstanding and the smell of the salty air, the architecture, art and rich history make it one of our all-time favorite places. Here are just a few images from one of our trips.

Faces: David and Jason Benham

I
had the pleasure of spending a morning with David and Jason Benham a little over a week ago. I hardly know where to start in order to adequately tell their story. The twin brothers were born in Florida...and early on showed an incredible aptitude for baseball. Their father told them if they were going to play ball and get up early for practices, they would have to make certain they still woke up in enough time to study their bibles and pray. So while many teenage boys were staying out late and sleeping in, the Benham brothers rose before the sun...studied the bible and prayed...then jetted off to baseball practice..then school.

What is the result of all the seeds those boys sowed with sacrifice and dedication? WELL...they both went on to finish college and play major league baseball--one for the Red Sox and one for the Cardinals. They left baseball because of a desire to serve in a different capacity...they began one of the most successful real estate companies in the world along with a foundation that has programs aimed at protecting life, rescuing the abused, feeding the hungry and loving the afflicted. BUT more than all of that, they are STILL passionately committed to prayer and revival. If you want to know more about them--make sure to check out the Benham Foundation and have a look into Charlotte 714 (an event organized by David Benham).

I hope you can see the passion and intensity in their faces....I hope you can see that God has marked their hearts for His Kingdom...
Thank you guys for letting me spend the morning with you all.

Treasures From Above

S
ometimes it seems that life's greatest treasures just fall from the sky. We work and work and work and just can't seem to get anywhere. Then, when we are on the verge of utter discouragement, God sends a little blessing to let us know he still watches and cares for us.

Karen and I were driving home from my Mike and Sharon's house last evening and just as we were pulling in the driveway this little fellow jumped out of a tree and landed softly on the hood of our car. I slowly pulled into the garage, went inside and got a camera. I placed my friend in a tree at the edge of the driveway. He began to put on a show while I snapped a few photos. It didn't last long but once again I was reminded that there is amazing beauty all around us, and though I may not be rich by worldly standards, I'm comforted to know that the best things in life are truly free.
