A re you like most people in our photography workshops? You paid nice money for your digital camera; you flipped through the manual, heaved a big sigh (aperture, F-stop, what?) and told yourself youd go through it another day. Before you tossed the manual in a drawer (now, which drawer was it?) you did manage to learn that P stood for Programmed Mode (aha! I can do that!) and youve been using good ole P ever since. Your pictures are okay. (Of course they are; who couldnt take good pictures of my adorable kids?). But with just a little knowledge, your pictures could be so much better!
With a little knowledge and a little practice, youll be capturing shots you never, ever thought possible. Pair your God-given eye for beauty with just a little technical knowledge, and youll be able to convey more about what is in your heart with each picture you take. In our workshops you will learn about: Camera controls Exposure Available light Composition The fee for a three-hour "Intro to Digital Photography" workshop is $50.00 Pre-registration is required "Intro to Digital Photography" Workshop Dates August 11 September 15 October 13 November 10 Prerequisite: MUST be familiar with your camera - in other words, read your manual! At least know how to turn your camera on and be familiar with the buttons and where they are located.....shutter, aperture and ISO controls. It helps! ALL-DAY WORKSHOP Saturday, October 17th 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Spend the morning photographing nature AND photographing a model. We will talk about using natural light, composition, exposures, posing, etc... lunch is provided afternoon "critique and learn" spend the last hour applying what you have learned photographing a second model Limited space available - only five participants accepted Prerequisite - MUST know your camera controls and have a basic understanding of aperture and shutter speed; how to change your ISO and your shutter speed. Once again, we are participating in a national campaign to benefit Operation Smile. We will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the "Fall At The Farm" sessions to benefit Operation Smile. | Thanks for the response to the "You Name It Contest"! There were a lot of good comments and some really close ones. So, the moral of the story is:
Sometimes the people you think are trying to hurt you are the one's trying to help you; sometimes the people you think are trying to help you actually mean harm. I t's the third Thursday of the month and as promised it's time for our second contest!! Last month we posted a photo and for you to guess what you thought it might be. This month I have a story I'd like to share with you.....it's a story my dad shared with me when I was a boy and it has stuck with me for many years. There is a great moral to this story and it's especially relevant in today's political environment.
Soooo here we go....... It was a cold winter day. At the edge of a pasture stood an old pine tree. In the top of the tree was a bird's nest and in that nest a baby bird sat and waited for his mother to bring back a meal. After waiting patiently for some time the little bird became restless and began to toss about. Eventually he fell from the nest and hit the ground. For a little while he enjoyed his new found freedom, but soon he began to get cold. As he got colder he began to protest....tweet tweet tweet you could hear him cry. An old bull happened by and "pooped" on the little bird. The little bird was furious, why would that ole bull do this to me he thought. Then he began to get warm and thought, "this isn't so bad after all." It wasn't long until smell got to him and he began to protest again. Tweet tweet tweet once again you could hear him cry. This time it got the attention of a wolf that was lurking about. The wolf picked the little bird up and washed him off. "What a great guy this wolf is," thought the little bird, but before the thought could leave his mind the wolf tossed him in his mouth and ate him. And the moral of the story is...... you name it! 08.14.09NewsPhotography Publication in Bicycling Magazine |
A few weeks ago we were contacted to do a photo shoot for a feature in Bicycling Magazine. The feature was on Bobby Labonte and the magazine is on the news stand now so check it out!
To those of you not very familiar with NASCAR, Bobby was the winner of the 2000 Winston Cup Championship. Bobby is a great race car driver, a wonderful family man, and the consummate gentleman...... I know this because I am proud to say he is my brother- in-law. Bobby and I share a common interest in cycling, running, general fitness and, most of all, family. I could write pages and pages telling you qualities Bobby possesses that make me so proud of him. There is one thing in particular I find very amazing about Bobby. With all of his success and popularity he continues to work hard at his profession and with his personal relationships. When there are challenges, with his team or with any relationship, he always asks FIRST "what can I do to make this situation better"? I love you bru-in-law..... you will always be my "horse"..... win or lose....... |
