09.17.09News Third Thursday You Name It Contest!

So, after much debate . . . at the last minute, we couldn't agree on what to post for our contest, but finally we have it! Oh, you want to know who won the toss? Rodney, of course . . . he ALWAYS wins! (Don't tell Rod I said that though, he'll tell you differently.) Here is a closeup of . . . well, something! Tell us what you think it is; post your guess in the comment box. In my opinion, for what it is worth, this one is the easiest yet. Could it be because I know exactly what it is . . . 'cause I actually took the photograph . . . or did I just dream I did? . . . hummmm . . . Stay posted, winner will be announced on Monday!

09.15.09Bridal Portraits Charlotte Bridal Photography - Lauren and Matt

I t's always fun when someone wants to do a session a little differently. Most brides do their bridal session a few months before their wedding day. Lauren decided to wait until after the wedding when things settled down a little to do her session. Not only did it relieve some of the stress of soiling her dress but it also gave her the opportunity to include Matt in the session as well. Matt and Lauren are such a great couple and such a pleasure to be with and to photograph. Men usually aren't particularly happy about having their photos made, especially on a weekend during football season. Matt, however, was a great sport and pretty much went right along with the flow. You can tell a lot about a man during a photo session and Matt, kudos to you! They brought along their dog Cramer, who behaved perfectly. At the end of the day Lauren thought hard about trashing her dress but finally decided against it. I think she made a good decision.... I've never quite understood why someone would want to trash their dress... but.... to each his own!

09.12.09Children/Families Broccoli and Booster Shots

STOP...THINK.....and then SPEAK!!! Three little verbs that have little impact alone, but when put together in that precise order could very well change the world. I have always tried to apply them to my life, all the while praying my kids would do the same. After getting his booster shots Bradyn and his dad stopped by our house for lunch. I asked him how his appointment went and all he said was "okay". "How many shots did you get?" I asked. "Two in each leg and one pricked finger" he replied. We finished lunch and he asked if he could color a while. I noticed that he hadn't eaten his broccoli and I asked him......"Bradyn, if you had to make a choice between eating a bowl of broccoli or getting two more booster shots which would you choose"? He continued coloring as if he didn't hear and then he looked up with those big blue eyes and said..."well pop I guess it matters most how big the bowl is." The adults just looked at each other ..... I looked at Bradyn and he was back to coloring. For a second I was speechless and then I said "pass the salt, please."

09.09.09Children/Families Winston-Salem Children's Photography - Avery

I t was 2001 when we got a call from Avery's mom asking us to do some photos of her precious little two year old. Every year since, we've had the privilege of continuing that tradition. I told her mom yesterday that things just wouldn't be the same without our yearly session and I really meant it! When you look at Avery you are looking at pure sweetness.... Avery is an unusually sweet girl and Karen and I have enjoyed watching her grow. Building relationships with people like Avery and her family is what makes our job so much fun. Stephanie and Jay.... we love you guys and really appreciate you sharing the life of your beautiful daughter with us!

09.07.09Bridal Portraits Winston-Salem Portrait Photography - Tracye

I love bridal sessions! I don't post many because of tradition....most brides don't want their bridal photos seen before their wedding day. Tracye is so laid back and non-traditional.... when asked, she was all for it! Tracye chose the perfect wedding dress for her, she looks absolutely amazing in it. I know you will see in the photos how lovely she is........what I hope you'll see even more is what a beautiful spirit and wonderful personality she has. I am really looking forward to Ryan and Tracye's wedding day in October!
