04.17.09SeniorsWinston-Salem Senior Portrait Photography |
W e are well underway with our Senior model/ambassador campaign for the class 2010 and have selected three seniors from some of the area high schools and still have spaces available for High Point Central, East Davidson, and Westchester Country Day School so give us a call or e-mail and we will provide you with info on becoming one of our Senior models.
If you know of any upcoming seniors looking for unique senior portrait sessions send them our way! We have locations in High Point, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Thomasville. Our Senior model spokesperson for the class of 2010 is Caroline Best. Caroline is a rising senior at East Forsyth High School in Kernersville. She plays on the women's varsity golf team and made all-conference. Congratulations Caroline! Some of Caroline's interests are snowboarding, water sports and spending time at the beach. She is a big Wake Forest fan and attends all the home Wake Forest football and basketball games. Her plans are to attend a four year college/university. Caroline loves children and would like to be a kindergarten teacher. We are excited to have Caroline represent Autumn Song for the graduating class of 2010 and look forward to working with her this year. Stay posted, more pics and a slide show of Caroline to come! |

04.16.09PersonalGreensboro Tea Party |
I have never been one to protest things very much. I like to keep my opinions to myself and generally welcome and consider the opinions of others. Large, loud crowds tend to make me a little edgy so when I was asked by a friend to attend the tea party I was a little unsure. One thing I am sure of is.... rising taxes, arrogant politicians, and uncontrolled spending are getting out of hand. I packed my camera and said what the heck I'll go. I talked to several people there and saw a lot of friends. People from both sides of the isle were there. They were well behaved but very passionate about how they felt. One thing I appreciate about people, regardless of what they believe is their passion. If you speak to me with heartfelt emotion I can almost assure you an attentive ear. When the tea party ended I felt good about coming. It was a beautiful day, people of all sorts had expressed themselves with civility, and I got to do a little photography. |

04.15.09PersonalSpring ( A Time of Renewal ) |
I have always loved the spring and think of it as a time of renewal. It's much easier for me to make resolutions in spring rather than the new year. When I look at Karen's flower gardens and see all the new growth bursting forth....I see hope; when I open the doors to the back and hear the birds singing their beautiful songs they seem to be songs of encouragement. I can hardly wait to get out of my cumbersome winter clothes and into my summer "stuff." I've made a promise this year to slow the pace down slightly and to take an even closer look at the things I really love.....and hopefully gain an even deeper appreciation for them. Will you join me? |

04.13.09PersonalFun With Family |
E aster Sunday was an awesome day! We had a wonderful celebration at church and then family time at mom's with lots of fun and, as always, mom had prepared a delicious meal.
The kids and the adults enjoyed playing outside and hunting for eggs. The "eggs" the kids found at mom's were filled with money or other special treats and I'm not talking about a few coins but dollars. I think Bradyn ended up with about twenty dollars. When I was a kid we hid real eggs and our treat for finding the eggs was the pleasure of eating them. Wow, things have really changed! Yesterday will be remembered as another super fine day with the family. Good times for sure! |

04.11.09PersonalPhotography News - Choosing The Right Lens |
O ne of the reasons I love photography so much is that it is a lifelong learning experience. I am always discovering new things and finding new areas of awareness. One thing I have been studying over the last few years is lens selection. You might be thinking it's no big deal which lens to choose now that zoom lenses are so good. Zoom lenses tend to make me lazy, artistically speaking. They tend to keep me from realizing how I visualize the world. Some of the worlds best known photographers shoot with only one lens. They develop a relationship with their camera and lens combination. The way they see things is the way their camera/lens see things; they are one and the same. It's like a carpenter and his hammer. He knows his hammer just by the way it feels. He has used it so long it fits his hand perfectly, no other hammer will do. I have narrowed my choice of lenses down to two....a 35mm and a 85mm. They fit perfectly and I am perfectly content.
"To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place.....I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything you do with the way you see them." - Elliott Erwitt |
